Many tips and plans to improve your speed with the plectrum !
This article comes from the site of Nicolas Romann, good French guitarist.
Sweet-picking techniques
This technique consists in tackling with the plectrum each note pinch by the left hand. It is not very difficult to control, condition of course of not burning stages, and makes it possible to have plays really impressive.
Some tips above all:
- respect the sweet-picking scrupulously a blow to the bottom, a blow to the top,… etc).
- Work each loop while starting with a blow of plecturm to the top, then alternate while starting with a blow of plec to the bottom
- avoid the too fine plectrum.
- the movement of the plecturm must come from the wrist (not of movement of the elbow or the fingers).
- work the exercises with a metronome or one limps at rhythm.
- make turn the exercises buckles some longest as you can.
- at the beginning, work slowly (it is to better do to slowly turn a exercise during 2 minutes that quickly and 1/10eme of second).
- work with various dynamic (extremely, weak).
- choke the cords while letting put back the palm of the right hand on the rest of the guitar.
- work with the minimum of distortion (that will oblige you to look after your attack, and will save the ears of your close relations).
- the exercises which follow are to be worked the every day, a maximum of time.

Let's Go:
To not burn stages, we start with some sequences on a cord:
Ex 1 : sequence with 4 notes per time accentuate the 1st double eighth note

Ex 2 :

Ex 3:

Ex 4:

Ex 5:

Ex 6:

Once the sequences on a cord perfectly controlled, one complicates with sequences on 2 cords :
Ex 7: Supervise well the attack to the top of the 4th note of each group

Ex 8: Compared to the preceding exercise, all the blows of plectrum are reversed

Ex 9:

Ex 10: Supervise well the attack to the top of the 6th note of each group

Let us pass maitenant to exercises on 3 cords… last step before the serious things!
Ex 11: take a good base of the inch of the left hand behind the handle to facilitate the variation.

Ex 12: an extension of 12 and 14

Ex 13: take care of the jump of cord of the return at the beginning of loop
To finish, of the exercises on all the cords
If you assimilated the preceding sequences perfectly, the following exercises will be easy. Work buckles them until dead follows from there.
