Britney: For The Record - Part 1

The Barclay James Harvest story begins in the early sixties in the Oldham area of North-West England. John Lees and Stuart “Woolly” Wolstenholme met at Oldham Art School, and formed a band called The Sorcerers, which evolved into The Keepers. Meanwhile Les Holroyd and Mel Pritchard were playing in another local outfit rejoicing in the name of Heart And Soul And The Wickeds. In 1966 a new band was formed from a fusion of the two and performed live shows on a semi-professional basis as The Blues Keepers.

BJH - Fifties Child
Track #1, Ring Of Changes, 1983

[E] Love was a lesson [A]we tried to learn
[E] There were no exams [F#m7]to pass or fail
Only [A]heartbreaks, renew our [E]faith

[E]Life was a lesson [A]we've tried to learn
[E]There were no tests to pass, no [F#m7]license to gain
Only [A]win or lose, renew our [E]faith

Renew our [B]faith, let us [A]see
Fifties [B]child was [A]right to believe
Peace and [B]love were our [A]needs
The need to be [E]free

[E]War is a lesson [A]we've had to learn
[E]We had to learn to kill, to [F#m7]destroy and burn
But our [A]spirits cry, renew our [E]faith
[E]Peace is a lesson [A]we've yet to learn
[E] A prize for all mankind who [F#m7]race for the gain
Of [A]love and harmony, renew our [E]faith

Renew our [B]faith, let us [A]see
Fifties [B]child was [A]right to believe
Peace and [B]love were our [A]needs
The need to be [E]free

Renew our [B]faith, let us [A]see
Young and [B]old we're [A]right to believe
Peace and [B]love are our [A]needs
The need to be [E]free
