Nargaroth was founded as a one-man black metal act from Germany. Kanwulf (Rene Wagner), the sole musician and lyricist, founded the band in 1989, though the the first full-length album, Herbstleyd surfaced in 1999, 10 years later. The band's year of creation, as well as the release dates of the first few demos are disputed. With the success of Herbstleyd under his wing, and a rather large "cult" following in the black metal underground, Kanwulf has proceeded to make 3 more full-lengths to this day, with a number of EPs in between.
