There are two bands to have used this name: 1) Irish alternative rock band (1991-98 + 2005-present) 2) Californian hardcore punk band (1982-86) - - - - - - - - 1) Whipping Boy were an influential Irish rock music band who were active in the 1990s.They came to public attention with the critically acclaimed Heartworm album. They had been together a number of years at this stage, and had already released a low-key debut, Submarine.
