There is more than one artist with this name: 1) WHY? is a hip-hop indie rock band based out of Oakland, California, originally only featuring Jonathan "Yoni" Wolf. It has since gone on to include Doug McDiarmid, Austin Brown, and Yoni's brother Josiah Wolf. They are one of the founding groups of the anticon record label of Oakland, California. Yoni Wolf was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the summer before his first year in high school, Wolf discovered an old 4-track in his father's synagogue and began to experiment musically. Forays into rapping, drumming, and poetry followed.
