MGMT, précédemment connu sous le nom de The Management, est un groupe américain de rock alternatif. Originaire de Brooklyn (New York), le groupe est composé de Ben Goldwasser et Andrew VanWyngarden. En 2005, 3 nouveaux membres les ont rejoint. Ben Goldwasser et Andrew VanWyngarden créent le groupe en décembre 2002 alors qu'ils étudient tous les deux à l'Université wesleyenne, dans le Connecticut. Leur musique est alors orientée rock psychédélique et électronique. En 2005, après l'obtention de leur diplôme, ils commencent à partir en tournée pour promouvoir leur premier maxi Time to Pretend.
